How We Do It

Alcohol use and related harms are complex issues, and we approach our work in ways that address root causes and systemic factors. What we seek to build and do together is deeper than structural change.

The Alliance uses several frameworks to guide how we work together and approach this issue. The information below includes highlights from our guiding frameworks and an overview of our structure. For more details on the frameworks we use, visit [insert link to Guiding Frameworks page].

Our VALUES

  • Everyone has wisdom to contribute: We value lived experience alongside professional expertise.
  • Relationships matter: Trust and connection are foundations for effective change.
  • Systems change requires new ways of working: We challenge outdated approaches and explore what actually works.
  • Equity is essential: We prioritize voices that have historically been excluded from decision-making.

Our Processes & frameworks

Our work is guided by multiple frameworks and processes, which reflect our shared vision and values of equity, justice, and inclusion. These processes and values empower people within the network to recognize that their unique perspectives and lived experiences are essential to the whole group and that our whole selves are welcome in Alliance spaces. Learn more about our guiding frameworks and processes below and here.

How Decisions are made

The Alliance uses consent-based decision-making, which means we:

  • Seek input from those affected by decisions.
  • Welcome different perspectives.
  • Address concerns and potential risks.
  • Move forward with solutions everyone can work with.
